Your Stay in London: Accommodation

Please note that the Conference is non-residential and that Speakers and Delegates are kindly requested to make their own arrangements for accommodation in London.
We recommend staying close to the conference venue to cut down on travel time and additional travel costs.
Within close proximity to the Conference venue in and around the University quarter of Bloomsbury, a wide variety of accommodation is available in hotels, guesthouses, 'bed-and-breakfast' accommodation, and in student halls of residence.
It is always a good idea to consult a travel forum such as Tripadvisor to check what other travellers have thought about their accommodation!

Our Hotel Discount Scheme provides an accommodation price comparison search engine and is offering a 10% rebate via PayPal to all UNDERSTANDING BRITAIN 2012 participants booking via their website.
Visit their International Conference Support Programme page at  to find more information on how to make a booking, and how to claim your rebate.

University Halls of Residence

Rooms for visitors are often cheaply available in student halls of residence/dorms/hostels around Bloomsbury. Try the following:
The Institute of Education student accommodation is closest to the venue. Go to the main Institute webpage, then into Student Information concerning accommodation.
The London School of Economics offers a wide range of accommodation for visitors.
NIDO is a private company pioneering high quality student accommodation close to the conference venue, in King's Cross, and a little further afield in Spitalfields, and in Notting Hill.
